About Nacala
Nacala has the deepest natural harbour on the East African coast and needs no dredging to take large vessels, which sets it apart from Beira and Maputo. It serves northern Mozambique and the rail corridor into Malawi. Its hinterland is thinner than the southern ports', so volumes are lower despite the better harbour.
First Base Freight handles both import and export cargo through Nacala — inbound from any country and outbound to any country. Indicative sea transit on our the UK lane is 26–32 days; transit on any other routing is confirmed at quote stage. For rates, container options and the wider Mozambique lane, including air freight and customs clearance, see the country page — or request a quote for this port.
