About Leixões
Leixões sits just outside Porto and is the gateway for Portugal's industrial north, where much of the country's textile, footwear and furniture manufacturing is concentrated. It is an artificial harbour built out from the mouth of the Leça, and is the shorter Atlantic crossing of the two Portuguese ports. Routing northern cargo through Lisbon instead adds a long domestic road leg.
First Base Freight handles both import and export cargo through Leixões — inbound from any country and outbound to any country. Indicative sea transit on our the UK lane is 5–8 days; transit on any other routing is confirmed at quote stage. For rates, container options and the wider Portugal lane, including air freight and customs clearance, see the country page — or request a quote for this port.
